Hi, my name is April! I’m the face behind this travel blog. I don’t have the typical story about where I started traveling in my early 20s, caught the travel bug, and the “rest is history”. I did go on one international trip in physical therapy school to Honduras which was fun. But even before that trip, I knew I wanted to see the world and do awesome things.

So, what stopped me? A lot of things. Money, school, fear, etc. I was in school for my entire early 20s into my mid-20s! Now I’m 28 going on 29 and still have not seen another country since that Honduras trip.

This “about me” section quickly turned into me complaining. I’m sorry! 😅

There’s some light at the end of the tunnel I promise!

So, let me back up. I grew up in a small town in North Carolina. Family vacations included trips to the North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia mountains. I loved our family vacations! Because of this, I went to college in Western North Carolina.

College lasted for seven long years. I got my Doctorate in Physical Therapy which was cool. Technically, I’m Dr. April Duke, but no one sees PTs as doctors, but whatever.

Anyway! After I graduated college, I immediately jumped into travel physical therapy. Most of my professors and clinical instructors told me I should get a “permanent job” first to gain more experience.

No thanks. Becoming a travel therapist right off the bat was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I have zero regrets. Now, do I want to be a travel therapist forever? Not really.

To be honest, I don’t want to work in the healthcare field at all anymore. It’s exhausting both physically, mentally, and sometimes emotionally. I never thought becoming a travel blogger would be a realistic thing for me.

Until now.

After being a travel therapist for 3 years and seeing some beautiful places in the United States, I decided to create a travel blog so I could share my experiences with the world. Not only to share my own trips but to help others plan their travel adventures.

I thoroughly enjoy the process of planning trips! Most of me and my husband’s trips (yes, I’m married), involve outdoor adventures. We love hiking, camping, and trail running! I also want to get into more outdoor activities, such as backpacking, climbing, snowboarding, and go on exciting expeditions.

Additionally, I desperately want to travel the world. I crave new adventures and new places! There’s still so much to see and do in the US, but it’s about time I expand my travels outside of this country.

I’m going to make my dreams a reality. And this travel blog will be one of the best travel blogs on the internet! I have a long way to go, but I’m excited to see where this new path takes me.

To those who have read any of my blog posts, I truly hope you were inspired and empowered to create an unforgettable vacation or adventure, whether it’s a 7-day itinerary to a national park or simply a day hike in your own state.

Also, thank you in advance to everyone who has supported me. I appreciate you! 🫶
